Gidea Park LTC has enjoyed plenty of success during the summer season, in particular Matthew Doe, Jude Butler and James Stanley.

All three boys won their age group titles at County Closed Week, one of the most prestigious week-long events over the summer.

Only open to players living in the county, it determines the top players in Essex and Doe (under-16), Butler (under-10) and Stanley (under-nine) were all crowned at Thorpe Bay.

Doe was also the champion of the prestigious grasscourt competition at Eastbourne’s Devonshire Park, and won the Essex Open and Windsor (Berkshire) Open to climb the National League table.

He is now looking forward to training hard over the winter with his new performance team-mates at the Gidea Park-based Ellesse Academy, which aims to take the youngster’s training to a new level, focusing on fitness, tennis ability, diet, mental endurance, stamina and progression.

Stanley is now ranked number two in the South region, having won at West Worthing and Connaught, while also reaching finals at Winchester and Rickmansworth.

Now playing up an age group with the under-10s, he has already obtained winner’s cups at events in Wimbledon and Sudbury.

Stanley and Butler will also be joining the Ellesse Academy programme, which has been designed for younger children who wish to succeed.

A spokesperson said: “Their success is due to not only their hard work but the hard work and dedication from the head coach at Gidea Park LTC, Kirk Butler, who is now building the new Ellesse Academy.”
