The Essex FA are seeking two ‘Young Leaders’ - one male and one female - who will progress to represent Essex at the national FA Football Futures Camp held at St George’s Park later in the year.

Spaces are likely to be snapped up quickly for the annual training and development event, with two Essex venues booked - one towards the north of the county and another in Essex’s London Boroughs.

The first will take place in the Sports Dock of the University of East London’s Docklands Campus on Saturday March 29, while the University of Essex in Colchester hosts the other on Saturday April 5. Both will run from 10am to 4.30pm.

To be eligible, individuals have to be aged between 15 and 19, and must be 16 by July 20 to be considered for the national camp.

A minimum of five hours of volunteering is also a requirement, as is a pledge to commit to a further ten hours in a local FA Charter Standard club, school or college after attending the county camp.

Nick Emery, Senior Football Development Officer at the Essex FA, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for the most proactive football leaders to showcase and build-up their existing leadership skills.

“These camps will bring together Young Leaders from around the county to give them a taste of different parts of the game, including Futsal, coaching, refereeing and development. Candidates will be observed on their leadership ability.”

Applicants should hold one of the following recognised qualifications: Sports Leaders UK Level One or Two (formerly JSLA/CSLA), FA Level One or Two Coaching Certificate, FA Junior Football Organisers/Leaders Certificate, FA referee qualification.

If the camps are oversubscribed, places will be prioritised based on the information provided on the application forms, which need to be received by Friday March 21.

To apply, candidates must speak to their PE teacher or club representative or complete and submit an application form, which is available to download from www.essexfa.com.

For more information, contact Nick Emery via email at nick.emery@essexfa.com or call 01245 393077.

Information is also shared on Twitter @EssexCountyFA and on Facebook by searching for ‘EssexFootball’.
