West Ham fans getting excited by Hernandez signing

The Hammers have splashed the cash at last and the supporters are loving it
The fans panicked; then they criticised; then they turned green with envy as Everton seemed to snap up every available player. But it seems now all is forgiven with West Ham finally striking it big in this transfer window.
A striker was always the top priority and many thought the £24million purchase of Marko Arnautovic from Stoke City would be the club’s effort to fulfil that need.
But in a move that has brought great excitement to the fans, West Ham have now purchased Mexico international Javier Hernandez for £16million in a three-year-deal.
Cheaper than Arnautovic, it looks to be one of the bargains of the window.
The 29-year-old certainly has the credentials to be a vital part of the Hammers squad.
He is Mexico’s all-time leading goalscorer; became the first Manchester United player since Ruud van Nistelrooy to score 20 goals in a season and after a permanent move to Bayer Leverkusen in the German Bundesliga, he scored 39 goals in 76 games in his two seasons there.
“I am very happy to join West Ham,” he said. “For me, the Premier League is the best league in the world and when the opportunity came, I was desperate to sign.
“It was not a difficult decision. West Ham is an historic club and very ambitious and this summer, you can see with the players that they have signed that they are looking to have a very good season.”
It is arguably the biggest overseas signing by the club since Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano shocked the world by signing for the Hammers.
Fans can only hope that he proves better than other Mexicans like Guillermo Franco and Pablo Barrera and with his experience in the Premier League already there, he should be a great asset.
Joint-chairman David Sullivan said: “We are delighted to welcome Javier as the latest fantastic addition to the West Ham squad.
“He has a proved goalscoring record in the Premier League, La Lig and the Bundesliga as well in the Champions League and at international level.
“We now have some fantastic options in attacking positions and, like all West Ham fans, I am looking forward to seeing Javier score goals in a claret and blue shirt next season.”
Unlike last summer when it was more quantity rather than quality that came into the club, this year seems to be a very different story.
Zabaleta, Hart, Arnautovic and now Hernandez. No wonder the fans are getting excited.
