Adrian 8* Man of the Match

Two superb saves to keep the Hammers in it as they came under pressure. Someone to rely on.

The last line of defence is so important and though Bournemouth did not offer too many threats, when they did he was equal to the task.

One superb tip-over from Jake King and a great block from the same player secured the points as much as the goal.

Sam Byram 6

A much better performance than Thursday in Romania. Had some good moments, with some passing and tackling, but went into the book yet again. Could have been sent off on Thursday and this is a habit he must break.

Arthur Masuaku 7

Looks a quality defender and can get forward and deliver a cross too. More than an able back-up man to Aaron Cresswell, he looks to be a real steal at £6million.

Winston Reid 7

Superb headed block in the final minute to keep the lead. Strong display under pressure and though not back to his best, he is getting there. Booked for dissent though.

James Collins 6

Slightly surprising to see him preferred to Ogbonna, especially after being at fault for the goal against Astra. Made some telling interceptions here though and seems to be revelling back in the starting line-up.

Cheikhou Kouyate 7

Allowed to roam further forward with Nordtveit in the team and made some great runs, particularly in the first half. Faded in the second a little, but it was Arter’s challenge on him that led to second yellow card.

Havard Nordtveit 6

Adds a bit more cover and security in front of the back four, which was certainly useful with the makeshift side and did make some passes, but whether he will be needed in some home games, or if he goes the way of Pedro Obiang remains to be seen.

Mark Noble 7

After his poor display at Chelsea, he has been much better in the last two games. Controlled display with some fine passes, little runs and strong tackles to keep the team ticking over.

Gokhan Tore 7

Still not fully fit and sometimes makes the wrong decisions, but he can certainly cross a ball. Went close with one shot where he should have hit the target but then set up the winner with the perfect cross to the far post.

Michail Antonio 8

Unshackled by right-back duties in the last two games, it looks like he has been released from jail. He bombed forward again and again and in the end was rewarded with the late winner.

Enner Valencia 6

He may not be a centre forward and he may not have scored for a while, but he had a real go out there. One good shot was well saved, though he was largely crowded out in the penalty area.

Sub:

Jonathan Calleri 6

So unlucky to miss that late chance. Ran from halfway and did everything right cutting across the defender and beating the keeper, only he couldn’t put the ball in the net.
