Romford will go into the hat for the FA Cup first qualifying round draw after earning a replay with Stowmarket Town.

Boro made the trip to the home of Ipswich Wanderers – with Stowmarket’s pitch unavailable – on the back of a 5-1 home defeat against Bostik North rivals Heybridge Swifts in midweek.

And the home side, who had included former Newcastle and Sunderland defender Titus Bramble in their line-up for a previous fixture, made a bright start, with Romford’s Jonathan Nzengo picking up a yellow card on 13 minutes.

Thurlow Nunn League Stowmarket made the breakthrough four minutes before half time as Andrew Wood beat Michael Gooch.

But Boro were back on terms just eight minutes into the second half thanks to Jonathan Adebayo.

And as neither side could go on and find a winner, the £1,925 prize money remains on offer for the replay at Ship Lane on Wednesday.

If either club needed it, Monday’s draw will provide added incentive to ensure progress to the next stage.

Boro will then face a busy Bank Holiday weekend with a home match against Tilbury on Saturday followed by a trip to fierce rivals Hornchurch on Monday.

Romford: Gooch, Burt Allen, Atkinson, Cossington, McGeorge, Dicks, Adebayo, Olukoga, Akande (Clarke 51), N Reynolds, Nzengo. Subs: Brown, Taylor, Ayoola, Giwa, Modeste, S Reynolds.
