Romford face an in-form Aveley tomorrow (Saturday), but boss Paul Martin is confident they can bring the Millers good run to an end at Ship Lane.

Justin Gardner’s side have won their last eight games and while their opponents are in good form, Boro are not in bad shape themselves.

A 1-0 FA Cup win against Bury Town on Sunday was followed by a 2-0 Ryman One North success at Chatham on Tuesday and Martin sees no reason why they cannot inflict defeat on Aveley.

“Justin and I have both had our battles over the years and we’ll both be doing our best to get our sides ready and prepared for what should be a good local derby,” said Martin. “They’ve got eight wins on the spin themselves so they are in good form, but that run has to come to an end at some point and we’ll be doing our best to come out on top.”

Ryan Imbert netted his eighth goal of the season in the win over Chatham, while Dave Ottley was also on target.

Imbert’s form has not gone unnoticed with the striker turning down a move away after Martin was made aware of an approach.

And with the likes of Ottley and Jamie Dicks, who netted the winner over Bury in the Cup, the Boro boss wants more of his squad to ease the burden on Imbert.

“Ryan had an approach and was honest enough to tell me,” said Martin. “It wasn’t done the proper way which disappointed me, but we’re going to have to expect approaches for him because of what he’s shown this season.

“Dave got a rare goal on Tuesday and Jamie’s now popped up. We now need other people to start scoring a few goals as we can’t keep relying on Ryan and Jack Barry, the workload needs to be shared.”
