Ryman Div 1N: Romford 0 Harlow 1

Romford made their long-awaited to return to action at Ship Lane last night, but Scott Curley’s 50th-minute goal sent them to defeat against Harlow.

Boro had been without match action since their 4-0 win at Waltham Forest on December 14, due to a spate of postponements for waterlogged pitches.

And that delay meant boss Paul Martin had still to complete a five-match stadium ban, but he should now be back in the dugout for the trip to Chatham on Saturday.

An above-average crowd of 104 was in attendance but had little to them warm during a scrappy first half.

And Curley came off the bench during the interval for his first appearance since late November to fire the winner for Hawks soon after the restart.

The visitors were reduced to 10 men just before the hour, when captain Darren Blewitt was shown a straight red card.

But Boro could not make the extra man count and are looking nervously over their shoulders at the relegation zone.

Romford: Omand, Ottley (Norris 79), Woodward, Barry, Toms, Clayton, Oates, Seymour, Imbert, Reynolds, Jones (Richardson 65). Unused subs: Truman, Ishmail, Ngoy.

Harlow: May, Barnard, Eadie, O’Donoghue, Urquhart, Blewitt, G Smith, Muguo, Read, Antoine, J Smith. Subs: Williams, Curley, Martin, Knowles.
