Ryman One North: Romford 1 Heybridge Swifts 3

Ben Newson’s brace helped Heybridge Swifts overcome Romford, though Paul Martin’s side ended the match with nine men.

Michael Toner gave the visitors a 10th minute lead, before the cautions started flowing, as Toner, Frank Everett and Danny Barber all found their way into the referee’s notebook alongside Reynolds for the hosts.

Boro did level on 56 minutes when Reynolds struck past Ashley Harrison, though parity last just three minutes.

Newson opened his account for the day to put the Swifts back in front, before Abs Seymour was the latest Romford player to pick up a caution,

And seven minutes from time Heybridge sealed all three points when Newson struck again, and that’s when the red cards started to flow for the hosts.

Danny Jones received the first on 88 minutes and only two minutes had passed when Matt Toms followed Jones back to the dressing rooms as Romford were on the wrong end of a 3-1 scoreline.

Martin’s side will hope to bounce back against Ware on Tuesday night.

Romford: Ngoy, Barry, Dicks, Ishmail (Thomas 83), Toms, Oates, Imbert, Seymour, Reynolds, Richardson, Jones.
