Hornchurch manager Jimmy McFarlane has brought in three players to the club ahead of today’s Ryman Premier clash against Margate, with the Bridge Avenue outfit still searching for a first win of the season.
Urchins have played eight times in the league this term, but have only accumulated one point of a possible 24.
McFarlane and chairman Colin McBride have both openly stated they have been trying to bring new players to the club this week and a statement on the official club website on Friday confirmed the new additions.
Forward Leon McKenzie has returned to the club after leaving in March 2013. He first joined in February 2012 and scored 13 goals in 48 appearances during his previous spell at Bridge Avenue.
He has played for Maldon & Tiptree this season and had scored twice for them in the Ryman One North.
McFarlane will now be hoping McKenzie is the answer to Hornchurch’s struggles in front of goal as they have found the net just three times in eight league games this season.
Also moving to the club are Thomas Gogo, a midfielder who was with the West Ham United youth team last season, and James Dobbs, who played for the Hornchurch reserve team last year.
All three are expected to be available for selection this afternoon as Urchins attempt to end their winless run when they return to Bridge Avenue for the first time to face Margate, this fixture kicking off at the earlier time of 2pm.
