Urchins set to host Wealdstone in FA Cup

Hornchurch have been handed a home tie against Wealdstone in the third qualifying round of the FA Cup on October 12.

Urchins booked their place in the round with a 4-1 success at Spalding United at the weekend, where Carl Rook claimed a hat-trick.

Substitute Ade Yusuff added a late fourth for Jimmy McFarlane’s men, who extended their unbeaten run to 12 matches as they banked £4,500 in prize money, to go with a cheque for £3,000 from the previous round when they beat Ryman Premier Division rivals East Thurrock in a replay.

Another £7,500 is on offer at the next stage and if Urchins get past Stones they will potentially be only 90 minutes away from a possible meeting with a Football League club in the first round proper in November.
