Ryman North: Romford 3 Norwich United 0

A brace from Chinedu McKenzie inspired Romford to another impressive result in the Ryman North yesterday at home to Norwich United.

Paul Martin’s men defeated Bury Town at the start of October and narrowly lost out at Cheshunt on Tuesday night.

Boro were without Tom Potter and Paul Preston for the visit of United, but Chris Barry and Jonathan Adebayo replaced the pair.

The Norfolk-based club have made a big impact since joining the league, though fell behind before half time at Ship Lane.

Asher Modeste, fresh from scoring at Molesey in the FA Trophy last weekend, managed to fire home in the 40th minute.

Martin’s team then made it an even better first 45 when McKenzie got in on the act and took a step closer to a club record.

The ex-Redbridge striker found the net on the stroke of half time and in the process scored for the fifth consecutive game for Boro.

Norwich made a change at the break, however, it failed to inspire any type of comeback at Ship Lane.

David Manu was introduced in place of Modeste with 19 minutes remaining with Boro still in control.

Martin introduced Nick Reynolds in the 86th minute for Will Green too and then McKenzie provided the icing on the cake.

The in-form Romford forward scored his second of the game and ninth of the season to earn Boro another excellent victory in front of 65 in attendance.

They’re now up to 17th in the table and five points off the relegation places and only seven off the play-offs.
