Urchins racked up fourth straight win in league, but came under late pressure from Boro

Hornchurch manager Jimmy McFarlane admits his side were not at their best in a 2-1 win at Haringey Borough in the Bostik North.

Goals from Theo Fairweather-Johnson and Leon McKenzie saw Urchins win a fourth game in the row in the league.

However, the Bridge Avenue club endured a nervy finish to the match with Lawrence Yiga netting for Boro in the 90th minute to offer hope of a comeback.

In the end, McFarlane’s men did enough to see out the remainder of the game and hold on to the win, much to the relief of their boss.

“Once we scored the second, I thought we could have a bit of a blow then, but Haringey are a good side,” said the Hornchurch manager.

“It was a similar game to the Heybridge Swifts game in that the opposition had loads of possession in the first half, but it always looked like us that were more likely to score.

“Our dead balls were good, so we just have to keep doing what we’re doing.

“Sometimes you have to win without playing well; we didn’t play poorly, but we didn’t pass the ball or keep the ball well enough, but that’s four wins on the trot now.”
