Romford suffered their second heavy defeat in the space of a few days as they went down at Parkside on Saturday.

Beaten 6-0 at home by leaders Hornchurch on Wednesday, Paul Martin’s men were put to the sword by their neighbours as Alex Teniola hit a hat-trick for the hosts.

Connor Witherspoon put Millers ahead after only 12 minutes and Teniola opened his account just past the half-hour mark.

The second half was only two minutes old when Teniola grabbed his second and Aveley’s third and he completed his treble before the hour mark to make it 4-0.

Bryan Kyungu grabbed a goal back for the visitors with 12 minutes remaining, but it was little consolation as Aveley had the final say in the last minute when Anthony Martin completed their nap hand.

After suffering a fourth successive league defeat, which leaves them just one point above bottom club Cheshunt, Boro will now switch their focus to their Essex Senior Cup semi-final against Bostik Premier title hopefuls Billericay on Thursday.

Romford: S Reynolds, Olukoga, Mvemba, Cossington, Atkinson, Tiranhu, Ishmail, Kyungu, Hornsley (N Reynolds 48), Daly (Jeakins 66), Hammond (Nzengo 66). Unused sub.: Taylor.

Attendance: 234.
