Romford fell to a fourth successive defeat in Bostik North after conceding twice in the last 22 minutes at Park Lane on Saturday.

Paul Martin handed debuts to new signings Henry Fisher and Ryan Reed and the visitors defended well for long periods, with Fisher slotting in at left-back.

Boro struggled to maintain possession themselves, but Reed had a half chance in the first half without seriously testing Harry Palmer in the home goal.

The breakthrough eventually came midway through the second half when a cross found the head of Jordan Cox to beat Rhys Hughes.

And it was 2-0 on 76 minutes when Ryan Melaugh’s speculative effort sailed over the head of Hughes and found the net at the far post.

Having failed to find the net for the third successive away match and fallen to 14th place, Boro now have two weeks to prepare for their next test at Mildenhall Town on November 17.

Romford: Hughes, Forrest, Fisher, Okoye (Akpele 83), Olukoga, Cossington, Taylor, Tombides (Joseph 51), Lemba, Reed, Smith (Campbell 74). Unused sub: Bolton.
