Romford captain reflects on success at Burnham

Romford captain Jack Barry was delighted to see his side win 2-0 at Ryman One North rivals Burnham at the weekend.

Boro bounced back from their midweek loss to Heybridge, which ended a five-match unbeaten run, to climb up to 15th place in the table after Paul Clayton and Nick Reynolds struck late on.

And Barry says it will give them a lift as they make the short trip up the A12 to take on lowly Brentwood tomorrow.

“It was a great win and an important win for us because we didn’t play well,” said Barry.

“To come away with the three points and not play well is a bonus really.

“It was good to see Nick back in the goals and he deserves it, so hopefully he can push on and get a few more.”

Boro had the better of the chances but had to wait until the final 10 minutes to make sure, with Clayton volleying home their opener before Reynolds sealed the points at Leslie Field.

After tomorrow’s trip to the Brentwood Arena, Boro are due to visit Waltham Abbey on Thursday in another busy week as they play catch-up with their rivals.

Barry added: “We have an important month coming up, with so many games to play, so we must take as many points as possible.”
