Holders welcome Braintree in last four

Hornchurch were handed an Essex Senior Cup home tie against Conference outfit Braintree when the semi-final draw was made this afternoon.

The holders booked their place in the last four with a 1-0 win over Dagenham & Redbridge on Tuesday, thanks to Stefan Payne’s last-minute effort.

And they will welcome Alan Devonshire’s Iron to Bridge Avenue next month, after they beat Harlow 3-1 at Cressing Road in their quarter-final.

The other semi-final sees the winner of the Colchester and Thurrock tie, twice postponed in recent weeks due to a waterlogged pitch at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, play host to Concord Rangers, who went through courtesy of a 4-0 win over near neighbours Canvey.

Ties are due to played on or before February 22.
