Havering 4 Waltham Forest 3

Essex Cup final

Havering’s year eight district squad ended the season on a high as they celebrated a superb treble.

Having secured top spot in the Essex League and shared the London Cup silverware with Brent, they beat Waltham Forest to win the Essex Cup.

Havering again had to play on away turf and do it the hard way and Forest took the lead when the ball bounced and looped over Tom Burke.

The visitors responded and good work by Tom Troubridge set up Solomon Okwar to sidefoot home.

Forest regained the lead, though, and Havering were finding it hard to get into any stride.

But their hopes changed and they started to play the style of football that has brought them so much success.

Callum Nightingill set Billy Reed away to calmly slot home and level and from the restart Nightingill once again set up Isaac Chitolie-Durand to fire home.

Five minutes later Nightingill took the ball on himself and fired into the top corner with a magnificent strike to put Havering 4-2 up at half time.

The scoreline remained unchanged until 10 minutes from time when Forest pulled a goal back against the run of play.

But Havering held on during an exciting conclusion to end a memorable season on a high.

Manager John Fisher said: “Credit to such a talented group of players who just never give up and play so well for each other.

“It has been a joy to manage them for the last couple of seasons and we hope there is still much more success to come for this team.”

Havering: Burke, Munns, Fisher, Bragger, Harris, Chitolie-Durand, Nightingill, Thomas-Price, Reed, Every, Okwar, Garraway, Crane, Ismail, Troubridge.

Havering 4 Basildon 0

Essex Under-11 League

Havering’s borough squad won their final match of the season to be crowned champions.

Basildon began well, but could not threaten, and Havering started to dominate as the first half progressed.

Tommy Davis hit a post with a header and Lewis Eaton struck the crossbar with a fierce drive.

But Bailey Bigwood opened the scoring five minutes before the break to settle Havering’s nerves.

Josh Exley, Ryan Vincent and Finley Burns held firm in defence after the restart as Basildon looked to respond.

And Sam Murray scored a fantastic hat-trick to secure the silverware and cap a fine campaign.

Havering: William Fisher, Ryan Vincent, Josh Exley, Finley Burns, Patrick Canty, William Scott, Harry Scott, Tommy Davis, Lewis Eaton, Rueben Travis, Bailey Bigwood, Sam Murray, Alfie Fry, Sona Elonge, Ted Higgs.

Hannakins Farm 1 Barn 1

Chelmsford Under-15

Barn ended a splendid season with a worthy draw which confirmed Hannakins as Division Three champions.

After an even first half of few clear chances, Barn got on top at the beginning of the second period.

Reece Cole hit the bar before Ryan Watson’s speculative lob beat the home keeper, but Barn then took their foot off the pedal.

Sam Hadgraft made several good saves and James Bacon had a goal disallowed for the hosts before breaking on the left and firing high into the net from a tight angle.

Honours finished even as Hannakins took the title and Barn finished in third place.

Barn: Clark, Cole, Flack, Hadgraft, Johnson, Mason, McCreary, Mills, Montesinos King, O’Brien, Spriggs, Walker, Watson.
