Specific funding from London Sport and the Essex FA has enabled the creation of a ‘Female Only’ Level One Certificate in Coaching Football in April to support the growth of girls’ football in Essex’s five London Boroughs.

Females aged 16 or over are invited to apply for places on the course at Robert Clack School’s brand new 3G pitch in Gosfield Road, Dagenham.

The course will take place on the weekends of April 5/6 and April 12/13 from 9am to 5pm and are open to any women who live in the boroughs of Barking & Dagenham, Havering, Newham, Redbridge or Waltham Forest.

The 1st4sport Level One Award in Coaching Football will provide an introduction to the organisation and delivery of safe and enjoyable coaching sessions for young players.

It is ideally suited to those working with groups of young players and/or teams and it introduces some key aspects in the following: football club administration, player and coach development, ‘Soccer Parent’, laws of the game, The FA’s Long Term Player Development Model.

“We are working closely with a number of clubs, some of whom are in boroughs which have never had a club structure for girls’ football,” said Essex FA’s senior football development officer Nick Emery, who works alongside colleague Andrew Crowl to enhance football in South-West Essex.

“A need for this course was identified so we’re expecting it to be popular. I’d advise people to sign up while there are still spaces available.”

Applications should be made using the form available at www.essexfa.com.

Priority will be given to those who already support grassroots female football at an affiliated Essex club.

Women who are interested in getting involved at a club should also apply, as the Essex FA will provide support.

Further details on Essex football can be found on Twitter @EssexCountyFA and by searching for ‘EssexFootball’ on Facebook.
