Pupils boosted by Havering Cup triumph

Emerson Park’s Year Seven football squad bid for a place in the National Cup final today (Friday, 4.30pm).

The pupils travel to Chipstead to take on Croydon’s Riddlesdown Collegiate for the right to face Cardinal Heenan Sports College (Liverpool) in the final.

Emerson Park warmed up for their big semi-final tie with success in the Havering Cup final against Marshalls Park at Hornchurch Stadium.

Josh Oluwayemi and Tom Troubridge netted in a 2-0 success and teacher Greg Hobson said: “I’m very happy for the students to have gained the experience of competing in a local area final.

“It will stand them in good stead for the future.”

The Year 11 squad completed a Havering Cup double with a 1-0 success over their Marshalls Park rivals.

Liam Heanue netted the only goal of the tie in the first half.

Marshalls Park’s Year 10 squad will face Coopers Coborn or Sanders Draper in their Havering Cup final on Wednesday.

Captain Charlie Dann netted the decisive goal in their 2-1 semi-final win over St Edwards this week.
