Former Ipswich Town man has signed one-year deal with Essex club

Dagenham & Redbridge have signed James Blanchfield on a one-year deal following the midfielder’s release from Championship side Ipswich.

The 20-year-old becomes Daggers boss Peter Taylor’s fifth summer signing after the arrivals of defenders Gavin Hoyte, Alex Davey and Ollie Harfield, and winger Lamar Reynolds.

Blanchfield has already experienced life in the National League, having had a loan spell at Aldershot Town last season.

The youngster, though, is excited to get going with his new club and is particularly thrilled by the prospect of working with Taylor.

“I have been having talks for the past couple of weeks and to finally get everything done, I am over the moon and can’t wait to get started and show the fans and the manager what I am capable of,” Blanchfield told the club website.

“When the opportunity first came up, my dad told me what a great manager Peter is and how lucky I am to get the opportunity to play under him, so I can’t wait to start learning from him.”
