Hornchurch sealed a 4-2 victory against local rivals Dagenham & Redbridge in a friendly at Bridge Avenue.

A brace from Theo Fairweather-Johnson and solo efforts from Tobi Coker and Leon McKenzie sealed the win for Jimmy McFarlane’s side to boost their confidence ahead of a busy weekend of league action.

The hosts opened the scoring in the fifth minute as Coker chipped a shot into the back of the net past goalkeeper Lewis Moore.

McKenzie then drilled a shot just wide of the goal in the ninth minute of the game before Daggers got a chance of their own when midfielder James Blanchfield drove a shot towards the left post but it was tipped wide for a corner.

Lanre Balogun was also denied after Tyrique Hyde made a sliding tackle and made a lovely play inside for the striker.

Urchins then doubled their lead as Fairweather-Johnson broke clear and slotted a shot past Moore in the 31st minute.

Three minutes later Coker turned and looked to shoot but his shot was denied by the hand of defender Michael Agboola.

McKenzie stepped up to take the penalty and slotted it into the back of the net.

It was then 4-0 in the 43rd minute when Fairweather-Johnson netted his second of the game as he placed into past Moore once again.

On the stroker of half-time Daggers clawed one back when Jack Munns was brought down in the box to earn a penalty.

He stepped up and was denied by the keeper but slotted home the rebound.
