Vanarama National League: Halifax Town 2 (Howells o.g. 68, Fondop-Talom 69) Dagenham & Redbridge 1 (Adams 40)
Two second-half goals in as many minutes saw Dagenham & Redbridge fall to a 2-1 loss at Halifax Town in the National League.
Charlee Adams netted his first goal for Daggers in the first half in Yorkshire as the visitors led at the break at The Shay.
However, a Jake Howells own goal and a strike from Mike Fondop-Talom effort midway through the second period turned the match in the Shaymen’s favour.
Despite suffering a heavy defeat at home to Tranmere Rovers on Saturday, Daggers boss John Still elected to name an unchanged XI.
Michael Cheek went close to putting the Victoria Road outfit ahead in the 20th minute, drawing a good save from Town keeper Sam Johnson.
In a first half that lacked clear-cut chances, the Essex club took the lead with five minutes remaining before half time.
Midfielder Adams let fly from some 30 yards, with his effort taking a deflection off a Shaymen player on its way in.
With both sides unable to test either stopper before the end of the half, Adams’ goal was the difference as Daggers led at the break.
Away keeper Mark Cousins had to be at his best to keep Daggers ahead in the 58th minute, producing a good stop to deny Raheem Hanley.
Cousins was tested again two minutes later, this time keeping out an effort from Ben Tomlinson.
In a period of great pressure for Halifax, midfielder Nathan Hotte then rattled the bar with a shot in the 63rd minute.
Town’s pressure finally told five minutes later when a Hanley ball into the box was turned into how own net by Jake Howells.
Less than a minute later, Halifax had the lead when Fondop-Talom found the target for the hosts.
Daggers pushed hard for an equaliser in the time that remained, but were thwarted in the efforts by the Town defence as the Still’s side suffered a third loss in four in the league.
