Dagenham & Redbridge have signed attacker Angelo Balanta from National League rivals Boreham Wood.

The 28-year-old Colombian, who operates as either an attacker or an attacking midfielder, has joined the club for an undisclosed fee.

The former Queens Park Rangers man had only signed a new one-year contract with Wood in March after an impressive campaign.

He found the net ten times last term in 31 appearances for the Hertfordshire club and helped them finish fourth.

They also reached the National League play-off final but lost 2-1 to Tranmere Rovers to miss out promotion into League Two.

Balanta has continued his form this term by picking up three goals in 11 games so far this term.

He will however be unable to play in tomorrow evening’s FA Cup fourth qualifying round replay due to playing for Boreham Wood against the Daggers in their 2-2 draw on the weekend.

Manager Peter Taylor said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have secured the signing of Ángelo Balanta.

“I’ve known him for a very long time, he was one of my players when I was at Wycombe in 2008 and he was just 18 years of age and just starting out at Queens Park Rangers.

“I have followed his career ever since then and I think he’s shown what a very good player he is in the National League and I am thrilled that we have brought in somebody of his quality.”
