New boss Peter Taylor has been busy adding to his squad ahead of new campaign
Dagenham & Redbridge defender Luke Pennell admits he is pleasantly surprised with the quality of players the club has been able to recruit this summer.
With Daggers currently in a difficult financial position, there has been a high turnover of players at Victoria Road this summer.
While the likes of Mark Cousins, Andre Boucaud and Craig Robson have all departed, Pennell is just one of seven first-team players to have remained with the Essex club.
New boss Peter Taylor has been hard at work bringing in new recruits, so far signing Gavin Hoyte, James Blanchfield, Alex Davey, Ollie Harfield and Lamar Reynolds.
The new faces have spent pre-season bedding in with Daggers, and Pennell believes the group of players is starting to come together as a team.
“I feel good and I feel we have a good bunch of players at the club now. We’re starting to bond together now,” said the 22-year-old.
“Playing with a few different players can be difficult in terms of getting to know each other and how they play, but we’re starting to get some good partnerships now with the new lads who have come in.
“I’ve been surprised with the players that we have brought in so far given the circumstances we are in.”
