Dagenham & Redbridge manager John Still explains the situation regarding captain Scott Doe and admits a decision will be made in the coming days.

The defender has been in and out of the line-up throughout the season and was made unavailable for selection in their latest 3-1 defeat to Solihull Moors at Victoria Road.

“Someone asked me and the staff a question about Scott Doe,” Still said.

“They heard that before the game against Solihull Moors, that Scott had stormed out of the club having had a row with me or with someone.

“So, I feel that it is only fair that I clear this up because the last time I was asked about Scott Doe I had said that he was unavailable and he was.

“In fact Scott never even attended the ground on the day of the Solihull match so anyone who thought that he had stormed off are mistaken.

“As Scott is captain it is only right that it falls to me to put the record straight.

“A couple of months ago Scott came to see me and he said he had some personal problems, nothing to do with football, that he needed to address, and that he didn’t feel that at that at that particular time he was in the right frame of mind to play.

“The club completely understood his position and sympathised by offering him help to do what he had to do. He then came back after stating that he had sorted his problems and resumed playing.

“Unfortunately the personal problems reappeared and Scott now feels that it is in the right thing for him and Dagenham & Redbridge is to move on, which we understand.

“With that in mind, we have done exactly the same as we did before, which was to give him a little bit of time, hence him being unavailable.

“Having entered into a conversation with Scott we have decided that something else needs to be found for Scott, so the club will be making a decision in the next day or two as to what that may be.

“I think it is fair to say that for Scott he would not now be considered for selection and as I said it’s personal and nothing to do with football or with the football club, but he feels the right thing to do is to leave the club.

“Will he carry on playing football somewhere else? That’s possible, but not definite.”
