Essex club won 3-2 at Tudors on Saturday

Dagenham & Redbridge assistant manager Terry Harris was pleased to end pre-season with a 3-2 win at Vanarama National League South outfit Hemel Hempstead Town, but knows the result may count for little when the league season starts.

A Michael Cheek brace and a goal from on-loan Colchester United defender Will Wright saw Daggers lead by three at half-time.

Though Hemel launched a fightback in the second period, Daggers ultimately did enough to hold on.

Daggers start the Vanarama National League season at Boreham Wood on Saturday, and Harris hopes the game with the Tudors allowed the Essex club the chance to fine tune things ahead of that fixture.

“It was an excellent way to end. The pitch was a little long, which I totally understand, and conditions weren’t the best, but the result is consequential,” he told the club website.

“The most important thing was people worked hard, worked on their shape and got more minutes to make sure they are right for the start of the season.”
