Full back has been one of Daggers start performers this term, having seen last campaign hit by injuries

Sam Ling is thrilled to have had a consistent run in the Dagenham & Redbridge first team this season after his first campaign with the Victoria Road club was blighted by injury.

After joining Daggers in September 2016, injuries restricted the 20-year-old to just 12 appearances in all competitions in his first season with the club.

This term, it has been a different story with Ling starting all but one game for the Essex club, with his solitary absence in the win at home to Gateshead only because of suspension.

The former Leyton Orient youngster has firmly cemented himself in the starting XI for Daggers boss John Still, and Ling is ecstatic with how the campaign has gone to date when juxtaposed to last term.

“Compared to last season, this season has been a lot better from a personal point of view,” he said.

“Last year, I was getting injuries and was in and out of the team, not getting regular football; this year has been the complete opposite.

“I’m playing every game and feel like I’m playing well. I’m really enjoying my football at the moment and for me that is a massive thing.

“I’m enjoying going out and playing, getting a few goals and assists and helping the team out.”
