Daggers set for first home game of the season against West Ham United

Dagenham & Redbridge will return home to Victoria Road this weekend when they host a West Ham United XI on Saturday.

It will be the first time this season Daggers have been in front of their home fans, having travelled to Bedford Town, Thurrock and Bowers & Pitsea so far for pre-season friendlies.

By now, the Essex club’s preparations for the new National League season should be well underway.

And boss John Still revealed that everything so far is going to plan as Daggers gear up for a successful campaign.

“We wanted to get everybody we could a game and a half by Wednesday of this week, and we’ve done that, which was important to us,” he told the club website.

“We now look forward to the West Ham game, when we’ll be a little bit sharper, and we’ll be a little bit sharper again for the Stevenage game and hopefully ready for when the season starts.

“When we do the pre-season training, it isn’t to start the season great, but it is to sustain a long season, and we’ve trained for that.

“Will we be as sharp as we’d like to be when we start? I don’t know about that, but that’s football. We’ll have to find out about that, but we’ll be fit enough to sustain a long, hard season.”
