Daggers fill blank weekend with fixture against young Eagles

With no competitive match scheduled this weekend, Dagenham & Redbridge will host Crystal Palace under-23s in a friendly.

Having been knocked out of the FA Cup in the fourth qualifying round by National League rivals Leyton Orient last month, Daggers found themselves with a spare weekend.

The Essex club have opted to fill that with a friendly against the young Eagles as Daggers boss John Still looks to keep his side ticking over ahead of the trip to Tranmere Rovers in the league on November 11.

It’s not the first time a Palace XI has made the trip to Victoria Road, with Daggers hosting the Premier League club in a friendly two summers ago.

Despite coming up against an Eagles side containing the likes of Conor Wickham, Patrick Bamford and Chung-Yong Lee, Daggers won 1-0 in August 2015 thanks to a goal from trialist Aaron McLean.

Kick off for Saturday’s game is at 12pm.
