Midfielder craving consistency for Daggers and says success on Merseyside could be the answer

Charlee Adams believes victory for Dagenham & Redbridge at Tranmere Rovers in the National League on Saturday could be just the result the Essex club need to get on a winning run.

Ahead of their trip to Prenton Park, Daggers have only won back-to-back games once this season – and that game in the first two matches of the campaign.

Despite their inability to string triumphs together, John Still’s side six sixth, just five points off leaders Dover Athletic.

Midfielder Adams, who moved to Victoria Road on a free transfer from Birmingham City in the summer, believes that if any side can string four or five wins together, it could see them pull away in the race for the title.

And the 22-year-old believes success on Merseyside this Saturday could set Daggers on their way to being the team to do that.

“Everyone is saying the league is a bit up in the air and there is now consistency, so we want to try and bring consistency to the league and go on a bit of a run,” he said.

“Tranmere will still be a dangerous team and they’ve got a couple of good results lately.

“They will be up there come the end of the season, but we have to keep doing what we’ve been doing lately.

“We’ve been playing well and dominating games, but we just need to take our chances and continue to be solid at the back.”

Despite being favourites for the title at the start of the season, Tranmere have stuttered early on this term and are currently 14th, though are just four points worse off than Daggers.

Results have also picked up in recent weeks for Rovers, with Micky Mellon’s men currently on an unbeaten run of three games in all competitions ahead of the weekend.

The Prenton Park outfit display their quality last time out in drawing 1-1 at League One side Peterborough United in the FA Cup first round.

Adams acknowledges it will be a difficult game for the Essex club this weekend at Tranmere, but knows they can win so long as they play like they have recently.

“You take the last couple of games, especially the second half at Maidenhead United and against Macclesfield Town, we took our game to the opposition,” he added.
