Aldershot Town assistant manager James Rowe believes it will be a tough test when they make the trip to Dagenham & Redbridge this weekend, despite their poor run of form.

The Daggers welcome the Shots to Victoria Road on Saturday for a late kick-off in front of the BT Sport cameras at 5.30pm as they look to end a miserable run.

Rowe’s men currently sit third in the National League, just one point behind the leaders Wrexham, while John Still’s men are down in 10th, and 11 points behind the Welsh club.

“It will definitely be a tough test,” Rowe said.

“The pitch is always tricky there, it is quite small and contained.

“They beat us 1-0 at Victoria Road last season, so we know fully what to expect from them and I know they had added to their squad since.

“But no game in this division is easy and the inconsistency has made it tight at the top. Even though they have had a bad run they are still in and around it, so it is a difficult place to go, but we will be ready.”

Rowe admits his squad must stick to their strengths but they must be prepared to cancel out the way Dagenham like to play football.

“It is dangerous when you look ahead, so we will prepare one game at a time like we do on the training pitch, on the analysis and do our due diligence on Dagenham and how they are doing,” he said.

“We will be fully prepared and ready to exploit their weaknesses and make sure we maintain our strengths on the pitch.”

Aldershot will be hoping to take advantage of the Daggers misfortune in recent weeks, as they’ve only won one league match in their last eight, and the club also revealed that Glyn Hopkin has resigned as director of the club late last week.

Daggers also will be without defender Kevin Lokko, who was recalled by his parent club Stevenage from his loan spell at the club last week, as well as young Joe White, who left the club to join Stevenage for an undisclosed fee.

Still could also be without a few other players as the club expect a few more will have to be released to help cut their budget.
