Latest news from the Essex FA
Volunteer-run clubs, dedicated coaches and loyal administrators from Essex could be recognised by the Football Association on a local, regional and national scale through the annual FA Community Awards.
Nominations are required online by Friday March 28 at www.TheFA.com/YourGame and Essex FA chief executive Phil Sammons would like to see clubs and individuals continue to represent the area with pride, continuing a tradition of success for Essex nationally.
Sammons is calling on local people to nominate their unsung hero for one of the eight award categories so they can be acknowledged for their commitment and achievements.
He said: “Grassroots football is at the heart of the national game and every week across the country, people dedicate their time and energy to provide a professional, fun and rewarding football experience for the local community.
“Essex has a great record for regional and national representation in these awards so we urge people to nominate.”
County winners from last year included Galleywood YFC coach Clive Draper and Euro Dagenham FC.
This year’s national winners will be announced at an FA Community Awards ceremony in August before the Community Shield.
Winners will be selected by a judging panel which is likely to include Sir Geoff Hurst and Sir Trevor Brooking.
The categories are:
o People’s Choice Award (Outstanding Contribution to Community Football)
o The FA Charter Standard Community Club Award
o The FA Charter Standard Development Club Award
o The FA Charter Standard Club Award
o The FA Charter Standard League Award
o Volunteer of the Year Award
o Young Volunteer of the Year Award
o Coach of the Year Award
