Hornchurch Athletic crashed to defeat at local rivals Rainham leaving them in the relegation spots in the Mid Essex Premier Division.

The seconds were thrashed at Hylands after a dismal batting display saw them dismissed for just 108 by Rayne with only Ian Crane (32) and Ron Kershaw (26) making an impact.

In reply Rayne had no problems and cruised to a nine wicket win in just 18 overs.

The thirds picked-up a great win against Old Chelmsford’s thirds at Raphael’s Park, even after only making 131 with Matt Willis (33) top scoring, as the visitors were bowled out for just 87.

The fourths won by 10 wickets with veteran Shaz Rehman (63) and Spencer Duke (39) both playing their first games of the season and combined to see Athletic reach their 123 target.

Athletic also made it into the quarter-finals of the new T20 Essex Foundation Cup after beating Brentwood B on Sunday.
