Few changes at Gallows Corner

Gidea Park & Romford captain Chris Collier is hoping a settled side can make their mark in Division Two this year.

Park host Leigh at Gallows Corner tomorrow (Saturday), having edged to a friendly win over Horndon last weekend.

That came after a heavy defeat against Hornchurch and a cup exit at the hands of Billericay and Collier said: “Obviously Hornchurch have had a headline signing with Roy Smith, but we’re pretty much the same as last year with personnel. We haven’t lost anyone.

“Sarvesh Damle is back, which is a positive and our youngsters are a year older, so hopefully they can kick on to the next level.”

Collier will be looking for the likes of Chris McKie, Sam Hewitt and Jamal Francis, among others, to make their mark in what he expects to be a tight division.

He added: “It was a poor performance against Hornchurch in our first game of the year, but Billericay are a decent side and we had a good win against Horndon.

“Everyone contributed on a tricky wicket and we bowled and fielded well in a tight game, which was good practice.

“It should be a close league and we want to start well, try and get a few early wins and build momentum.”
