Old Brentwoods remain 25 points clear at the top of Shepherd Neame Essex League Division Three after a four-wicket win over Stanford.

Ishaq Khan (2-23) and Mo Amin (3-30) combined to reduce the visitors to 56-5, with Minhaz Bad claiming a sixth wicket with the score on 73.

But Stanford rallied through captain Adam Knight and Michael Gray, who put on 86 for the seventh wicket.

Gray hit four sixes and five fours in his 71 from 103 balls, before falling to Arsalan Khan, with Brentwoods captain Baber Choudhary (2-23) claiming the last two wickets to fall as Stanford were dismissed for 210 in the 44th over.

The home side lost Ramesh Gunalan and Choudhary cheaply in reply to find themselves 22-2, before Shazad Khan (30) put on 58 with Nazim Hussain, who held firm at one end.

Abid Alaracu also made a start, before he was followed back to the pavilion by Hussain (37) and Bhad to leave Brentwoods 150-6.

Arsalan Khan (24 not out) and Amin (34 not out) then shared an unbroken 64-run stand to see the leaders to their target with five balls to spare as they maintained their cushion over second-placed Benfleet.
