Ardleigh Green made it three wins in four Essex League Division Three outings with success over Stanford.

Returning captain Chris Cook chose to bat after winning the toss, following his side’s disappointing defeat at Epping a week earlier, and saw Alex Cason and Sanjay Dindyal (33) make a solid start.

Cook fell cheaply, but Paul Hurworth (77) and Adam Thain (28) made useful contributions as the home side went on to reach 236-9, helped by 22 wides in a total of 31 extras.

And Green then saw Lloyd Edwards (3-15) wipe out the visiting top order with three early wickets, as James Duhig also enjoyed success with the ball.

Shawn Harvey (2-21) also nabbed a brace, with Cook and Zunair Jamil getting in on the act with a wicket apiece, before Jack Carter launched a defiant rally.

Duhig (2-25) ended Carter’s innings on 73, though, and Cook (2-25) claimed the final wicket as Stanford were dismissed for 167 in the 36th over.
