Boxer Anto Upton gives his thoughts in his weekly column

I won my fight last weekend against Zaurs Sadihovs (4-15) on points over in Belfast.

I did six rounds, which was tough after 10 months out, but I’m glad that I got them in.

He came to have a go in the first round – he has four first-round KO’s on his record – but when he felt the power in the second round, he backed off and ran away for the rest of fight.

I hit him with a right hook in the second round and he looked set to go down and take a knee but he had a bit of space so he managed to take a breather and stay away for the rest of the fight.

I just followed him around the ring and had to cut him off all the time. He survived the full six rounds and I got another shutout points win on my record.

I’d give my performance a six out of 10 rating, it was alright, and my first time back in a long while so nothing spectacular. I’m just happy to get the six rounds in.

It was brilliant to have my new team in the corner – Barry Smith and Tommy Martin. I loved it, they were very calm and relaxed in the corner, which is what you need. I’m more than happy with them and it all went according to plan.

I stayed where the fight was held afterwards and spent time with mates and fans. Then, I went back home and had a Dominos!

Despite all the questions, I really don’t know what’s next for me yet. Maybe an eight-rounder and then wait to see what pops up.

More than likely, I’ll have another routine fight before something major comes along. I haven’t spoken to my management yet as they have got another show on this weekend in Belfast with Jamie Conlan so I’ll speak to them afterwards and work out a plan.

I’ve been back in the gym already, I went in there Tuesday to train because I want to stay ready. I’ll be back to England next week. I’m staying fit and will be going back to spar Philip Bowes who is fighting Glen Foot soon so I’m helping him with his preparation.

My brothers are fighting next weekend in Brentwood so I’ll be there to cheer them both on. It’s March 17, which is St Patrick’s Day so it’ll be a great night out!
