Youngster impresses on England duty
Five Star’s Brook Eaton shone on England duty at Blackpool’s Norbech Castle Hotel.
Facing Scotland’s Heather Nicol at 60kg, Eaton produced a dominant display to earn a unanimous points win.
Boxing on the back foot in the first round, the youngster came out as the aggressor in round two, pushing Nicol back with combinations.
And after picking her shots well int he third round, Eaton was named a one-sided winner and coach Eddie Kelly said: “Brook has really grown in popularity with her boxing and will be one to watch out for in the future.”
Clubmate Mohammed Sheeraz was in NABC quarter-final action the following day, taking on West Ham’s Pat Fitzharris in the Class C under-64kg category.
Sheeraz was quickly on the attack with an excellent jab and won every round to book a semi-final spot and Kelly added: “A National semi-final is something he has worked so hard for and I want him to win so badly, he deserves it.”
The double success came on the back of former club member Lee Markham’s English middleweight title defence and Kelly said: “This weekend has been brilliant, with our stars all shining bright to give the club three wins out of three.
“We have our home show on Saturday, where Brook and Max Leyden will be showing their skills and I hope we keep this great form up.”
Boxing starts at 5pm on Saturday, with tickets costing £10 for adults and £5 for children.
