East Ham WMC to stage charity event
East Ham Working Mens Club will host a charity boxing event in memory of the late Mickey Wildman tonight (Friday).
Following the success of a similar event last August, fighters from Bangor ABC in Northern Ireland have flown over to take part, with a total of eight bouts scheduled, starting at 7pm.
Emma Wildman said: “The charity night is in memory of my brother Mickey, who sadly passed last year.
“Mickey took his own life and we feel that every bit of exposure can raise awareness and help families inn similar situationns.
“We have invited boxers over from Northern Ireland, as Mickey boxed over there when he was a boy and won and it is a special memory to us.
“We were delighted when they agreed to come over and Mickey’s three-year-old daughter will also be at this event, which will be great for her to see how people rally together for the ones they love, but also a great cause.”
The Mickey Wildman Foundation will be donating proceeds to the SOBS charity and Bridges charity based on Barking Road.
Tickets for tonight’s event are priced at £15.
