Havering’s Zoe Hughes has been rewarded for her excellent season with Harvard in the United States with a full Great Britain senior vest.

Hughes has been selected in the four-strong heptathlon squad to contest the European Combined Events Cup in Estonia capital Tallinn on the weekend of July 1-2.

And the event will also provide her with a final opportunity to achieve the GB selection standard of 5,450 points for the European Junior Championships in Italy, after she fell just six points short earlier this year.

Hughes competes in the England Athletics under-23 Championships this weekend, in the 100m hurdles and long jump, as Tom Pitkin tackles the under-20 400m.

Lydia Hallam finished fourth in the 1,500m in a new best of 4.28.55 at the South of England Championships last weekend.

Louise Lacy was fifth in the senior javelin, with Emma Christmas sixth, as Elysha Thatcher-Gray took fifth in the under-20 shot.
