Rivals set to clash in north east

Just four days after a thrilling Greyhound Derby final was won in fairytale style by 16-1 chance Salad Dodger, the big-race bandwagon moves on apace to Newcastle.

There are two valuable invitations sponsored by Alan Findlay’s Pin Point Recruitment company as a part of an all-open race card this evening.

Paul Young, the Essex-based trainer of Derby runner-up Droopys Ward, is heading to north-east with a team of greyhounds including highly-rated Jaytee Lightning, Bubbly Storm and the popular 2013 Derby runner-up Airlie Impact.

The card has the support of Ian Lavery, the MP for Northumberland constituency Wansbeck, who thanked sponsor Findlay for supporting the sport in the north-east and around the country.

He said: “Alan is a fellow greyhound owner and we are both fortunate to have had some top-class dogs in the past.

“He has grown his sponsorship portfolio within the sport, backing some major events, but Wednesday will be special for greyhound fans in his home town.”

See bagsracing.com for further details and big-race form.
