Knights of Gidea Park youngster Niall Ali finished runner-up at the fifth annual London Chess Classic at Olympia at the weekend.

Ali, 11, played a total of five matches over three days at the adult tournament, with one lasting over four hours, and finished with four points.

A club spokesman said: “This is a great result for a player in an adult tournament, considering Niall is not 12 until next June.”
