The leader of the Independent Residents’ Group (IRG) is “confident” his party will perform well in the south of Havering.

Cllr Jeffrey Tucker has fielded candidates in his “stronghold” Rainham and Wennington as well as South Hornchurch and Elm Park, which all lie in the south of the borough.

He said: “I’m feeling confident - we’ve put up a strong team in Rainham and Wennington, in South Hornchurch, and also in Elm Park in order to gain more credibility.

“I’ve had a look at Rainham and South Hornchurch and am feeling confident but Elm Park is a new venture.”

He also welcomed the return of former councillor Mark Logan as an IRG candidate.

Cllr Tucker claims Mr Logan was “sacked” as a councillor due to his ill health.
