A two-way car crash shut Squirrels Heath Road in Harold Wood for four hours last night.
Two people were injured in the collision, which took place just before the mini-roundabout at the foot of Shepherd’s Hill, but no one was trapped. Firefighters from Hornchurch and Harold Hill made the scene safe after smoke was spotted coming from the bonnet of one vehicle.
The smash, which involved a Ford Kuga and a Nissan Note, happened at about 5.55pm.
One person, reported to be a woman, sustained a wrist injury, and the second patient had a hand injury, according to an ambulance service spokesman.
The road was cleared and reopened just before 10pm. No arrests have been made.
