Many commuters affected by the tube strike have flocked to Upminster Station - though underground stations in the borough are open.

Havering underground stations expected to be closed this morning are in fact open and were described as “quiet.”

Services are running through Upminster Bridge, Hornchurch and Elm Park stations.

Commuter daveone said on twitter: “Hornchurch was open from about 7 this morning. Trains were pretty empty.”

Another, dan_afc wrote: “Upminster bridge was open this morning in case there’s any doubt!”

TfL confirmed that all three stations were open.

Elsewhere, there are large crowds at Upminster Station - though there has been no delays.

An announcement at the station said “trains will be busier” and “customers should plan their trips in advance.”

Some have even left the station and made their way to the quieter Romford in order to get their train.

Commenting on twitter, one commuter, smith_jayy, told a friend: “Mate I couldn’t even get a train from upminster I had to go Romford.”
