Just after 11am, a driver reported seeing people on railway-owned land near the track between Upminster and Ockenden, causing trains to have to go-slow.

Five minutes later the mystery trespassers were no longer there, and speeds returned to normal.

Earlier this morning there were delays on the line, which also runs through Rainham and West Horndon, after a pregnant woman was taken ill at West Ham.

Network operator c2c apologised for the delay to its service along the Fenchurch Street to Shoeburyness line, which lasted around 15 minutes.

Further down the line, residents trimming trees without permission at Chalkwell, Southend-on-Sea, caused delays between there and Leigh-on-Sea for a brief period.
