Toyota and Lexus to open new training centre at Ceme, Rainham

A major car company will open its new training centre for the South East of England, in Rainham.

Toyota will be opening the site at the Ceme Centre in Marsh Way.

The move is part of the car giant’s expansion of UK training facilities for its technical staff.

It has been installing the latest technology, including vehicle ramps, workshops, training rooms at the site – and will open it in April.

The training centre will help technicians learn how to maintain and service the latest models of Toyota and its luxury arm Lexus’ cars.

Another facility at Portbury, near Bristol, also forms part of the expansion.

Jon Williams, Toyota’s managing director for Great Britain, said: “We are investing in these facilities to train our network to the highest standards to meet our quality and people development commitments for the future.

“Our customers expect the highest standard of technical support from their dealers.”

Ceme chief executive Bill Williams said: “We are delighted to welcome Toyota and Lexus to Ceme where we are able to offer them world-class training facilities.

“We are providing them with everything they need in a tailor-made package all under one roof.

He added: “Ceme has strong links to the automotive industry and the reputation both Toyota and Lexus have as world leaders in car technology fits perfectly with our plans to become a world renowned hub of technical learning and expertise.”

The training base will provide space for twelve cars to be worked on simultaneously.

Ceme - the Centre for Engineering and Manufacturing Excellence – provides support for the engineering, manufacturing and technology sector.
