Three people were hospitalised following a collision involving a car and a motorcycle on the A127 yesterday morning.

The collision, close to Palms Hotel on the Southend Arterial Road, involved a Ford C-Max car and a Yamaha motorcycle.

Emergency services were called to the scene at about 8.45am.

The rider of the motorcycle, reported to be a man in his 30s, was taken to the Royal London Hospital with suspected multiple broken bones.

Two women reported to be in their 20s were also taken to the hospital after the roof of the car was removed by fire crews.

Fuel from the vehicles had spilled on to the carriageway. The road was closed back to Suirrels Heath Lane until 2.22pm.

Traffic officers are investigating the collision.
