Three charged after Collier Row pit bull attack

14:40 12 May 2014

Three people have been charged with possession of a fighting dog after a minicab driver was attacked by a pit bull type breed in the middle of the street.

The 41-year-old man suffered serious injuries after being mauled and “dragged down the street” by the dog, that was then shot dead by firearm officers.

The attack took place in Chelmsford Avenue, Collier Row, on April 8, and the three men charged will all appear at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on May 22.

Audrius Kesylis, 22, of Woodman Path, Ilford, is charged with possession of a fighting dog and allowing a dog to be out of control in a public place.

Jason James, 23, of Chelmsford Avenue, Collier Row, is charged with possession of a fighting dog, as is William Brimingham, 22, of Chelmsford Avenue, Collier Row.

The charges come under the Dangerous Dogs Act.
