Work is set to start this year to transform the fire-ravaged Plough pub into a KFC.

A blaze closed The Plough in Colchester Road, Gallow’s Corner in 2011.

Work was due to start on the redevelopment of the former pub last autumn, but plans for a KFC restaurant, car park and drive-thru were not approved by Havering Council until December.

A KFC spokesman said: “We are delighted to be opening a new restaurant in Romford next summer.

“We believe that KFC will be a positive addition to the community, creating around 50 career opportunities.”
